Statement on McCutcheon v. FEC Decision

This morning, the Supreme Court issued its opinion in McCutcheon v. FEC, putting our elections more fully in the hands of the wealthy few. U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright, member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement in response:

"A slim majority of the Supreme Court thinks the wealthy need more influence in politics, but the American people don't believe that. That's why I am a proud co-sponsor of the Government by the People Act, which would boost the influence of small donors and help millions more Americans play a central role in determining who wins elections and what issues make it onto the agenda in Washington. This Act will lift up the voices of everyday people in the political process."
